Technical Audio Devices Expands Line Of High-End Speakers And Components

Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc. (TAD) will introduce the much-anticipated Compact Reference speaker along with its new M600 Monaural Power Amplifier and D600 Disc Player at the 2010 Winter CES. These new products extend TAD’s capability to deliver the finest in high-end audio components for the most discriminating audiophiles. TAD’s components and loudspeakers establish a new standard for excellence and allow listeners to experience the closest thing possible to the original intent of the recording artist.

D600 Disc PlayerWith core technology representative of TAD’s lofty requirements, the D600 is a new reference standard for disc players with the capabilities to reproduce music virtually unchanged from the original performance or recording.

Compact Reference

Offered as a complement to TAD’s flagship Reference One speaker, the Compact Reference speaker shares many of the same components and attributes of its larger sibling while being designed specifically for smaller surroundings. It continues TAD’s industry-first application of Beryllium diaphragms as well as showcasing its proprietary technologies, including its CST Driver and ISO Drive Energy Isolation, which are encased in a cabinet that is both attractive and technically well balanced.

Developed and designed by Director of Engineering Andrew Jones and an international team of audio engineers, artists and craftsmen, the Compact Reference will be available in January 2010 and carries a suggested retail price of $37,000 per pair.

“For most speaker manufacturers, the creation of a top quality compact loudspeaker has been an exercise in compromise. Smaller drivers, reduced circuitry and lesser enclosures are often the norm,” said Jones. “The Compact Reference, though, contains zero compromises. It is the equal to the Reference One in every way while fulfilling the needs of smaller locations. Those who appreciate the experience of pure sound replication will be absolutely amazed.”

M600 Monaural Power Amplifier

TAD’s reputation for uncompromising sound quality in loudspeakers is on display with the official production debut of the M600 Monaural Power Amplifier. Built on a 75 lbs. cast iron chassis that sets a foundation of stability and vibration control, the M600 amplifier incorporates fully balanced circuitry to eliminate virtually all spurious interference. The result is a signal path so tight that all voltage amplification is achieved in a single stage. Each M600 is hand-made by TAD engineers and includes the hand-winding of dual transformers and the performing intensive quality testing on every single unit before it leaves the TAD laboratories.

“For 35 years TAD speakers have been instrumental to artists and audio engineers in professional recording settings where the purest possible audio signals are required,” said Jones. “We understand what the most demanding customers are looking for in amplification and have brought that knowledge to life in the M600.”

The M600 carries a suggested retail price of $26,500 and will be available in the U.S. starting in January 2010.

D600 Disc Player

With core technology representative of TAD’s lofty requirements, the D600 is a new reference standard for disc players with the capabilities to reproduce music virtually unchanged from the original performance or recording. A proprietary master clock is critical to performance of the D600, which achieves amazingly accurate D/A conversion and reduces jitters in frequency bands near the center frequencies that exist in most disc players.

The D600 employs a number of innovations that make it stand out. The rigidity of its die-cast aluminum chassis provides a stable structure while the completely separate power supply removes extraneous vibration and flux leakage. TAD’s specially designed CD/SACD mechanism is robust and rounds out the reference standard capabilities of this new disc player.

“TAD’s D600 disc player is the perfect complement to our line of distinguished loudspeakers,” said Jones. “Our engineers are well trained in the art of capturing and replicating pure digital sound quality and the D600 delivers on performance and artistry. With the new M600 amplifier and D600 disc player, TAD can help the discriminating audiophile achieve reference quality sound form start to finish.”

With a suggested retail price of $26,500, the D600 disc player will be available in Spring 2010.
