Yamaha SRT-1000 TV Speaker Features True 5.1-Channel Surround Sound
Yamaha today introduced the SRT-1000, the world's first TV speaker base system to offer true 5.1-channel surround sound.
In contrast with current speaker base systems which provide only "virtual" surround sound, the SRT-1000 employs the company's exclusive, critically-acclaimed Digital Sound Projector technology to immerse the listener with five discrete "sound beams," enhancing TV shows, movies and games with sound realism unrivaled in the category.

Only three inches high, the SRT-1000 offers a wood enclosure that looks beautiful, produces excellent sound quality and provides a solid pedestal for TVs as large as 55 inches without blocking the screen. It comes with a rich suite of useful features, including Bluetooth streaming, Yamaha Home Theater Controller app support for Apple iOS and Android devices and a TV remote learning capability.
"The SRT-1000 brings an unprecedented high level of surround sound performance to this form factor," said Bob Goedken, general manager, AV Products, Yamaha. "Unlike the current leading model in this category, the surround experience you get from our sound beam technology is the next best thing to a multi-speaker home theater—with none of the complications. No one else in America offers it."

The SRT-1000 packs a total of 12 speaker drivers into its sleek enclosure–eight "sound beam" drivers, two oval woofers for clear dialogue and superior stereo music reproduction and two built-in space-saving subwoofers for deep, rich bass. However, if even more bass power is desired, an output on the rear panel allows for an optional subwoofer to be added.
The top surface of the SRT-1000 has a classic hairline finish for a luxurious feel. The front panel and sides have a soft rounded design with a beautiful glossy-black finish. An angled panel at the back of the enclosure makes connectivity easy via two optical, a digital coax and analog inputs.
The SRT-1000 also supports aptX, providing superior sound quality when streaming music via Bluetooth from compatible mobile devices.
Pricing And Availability
The SRT-1000 will be available in September for an MSRP of $499.95.
