Yamaha Releases Slim Network AV Receiver RX-S600

Yamaha today released the slim RX-S600 network AV receiver that offers consumers greater flexibility to place a smaller AV receiver in their home without compromising the audio quality expected from the company's full-size models. The powerful yet compact unit will be available this month, combining high-performance AV capabilities, connectivity to home and portable devices and compatibility with Yamaha's top rated AV Controller App for iOS, Android and Kindle Fire devices.

The RX-S600 is 35 percent smaller than most traditional AV receivers, while still providing room-filling audio from a wide range of sources for music and movie fans alike. Whether via HDMI or a mobile device, accessing content from sources such as Pandora, Spotify Connect, Internet radio, AirPlay and DLNA devices could not be simpler. The RX-S600 also provides superior sound quality from iPod, iPhone and iPad devices via a direct digital connection through its convenient front panel USB input.

"Yamaha's hallmarks have always been craftsmanship, high performance and natural sound. With the RX-S600, we were able to draw from each of these to deliver the best possible entertainment experience from a receiver that can be placed just about anywhere due to its small size," said Bob Goedken, general manager, Yamaha, AV Division. "By revamping traditional design and selecting premium parts, we were able to increase the efficiency of this slim receiver to match and exceed the performance you would expect in many full-size receivers."

The receiver features Burr-Brown converters and Yamaha CINEMA DSP 3D processing to deliver maximum audio performance for music, movies and TV viewing. Yamaha's proprietary YPAO technology provides automatic speaker setup to calibrate and optimize the system for the best possible playback quality.

Yamaha offers the YWA-10 Wi-Fi adapter (MSRP $99.95) and YBA-11 Bluetooth wireless technology audio receiver (MSRP $69.95) as optional accessories that can be connected to provide additional access to content from wireless devices.

The RX-S600 has a generous array of HDMI inputs that are ARC (Audio Return Channel) ready and able to pass-through 3D along with the next generation of Ultra HD (4K) video.
